Who Is Covered by IFHP?

The Interim Federal Health Program provides temporary health coverage — including dental — to people who are waiting for provincial health insurance to begin. Eligible groups include:

• Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs)
• Blended Visa Office-Referred Refugees (BVORs)
• Privately Sponsored Refugees (PSRs)
• Asylum claimants and protected persons
• Certain detained or deported individuals

Coverage varies by category. Your IFHP letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will indicate your coverage level. Bring this letter to your appointment and we will confirm what is included before any treatment begins.

What Dental Services Are Covered?

IFHP dental coverage typically includes essential dental services such as examinations, X-rays, extractions, fillings, and emergency pain relief. The exact services covered depend on your IFHP coverage category. Our team will check your coverage at your appointment and explain exactly what is included — you will never be surprised by a bill.

How to Book as an IFHP Patient

1. Call us at (226) 779-5135 and tell us you are covered under IFHP. We will confirm your eligibility details and book enough time for your visit.
2. Bring your IFHP coverage letter — the document from IRCC showing your coverage. If you do not have it yet, call us and we will help you figure out the next step.
3. Bring a photo ID if you have one. If you do not yet have government-issued ID, please call ahead — we can still see you.

Clinic Hours and Location

We are open Monday to Friday 9 AM – 7 PM and Saturday 9 AM – 4 PM, making it easier to book around settlement appointments, language classes, or work.

We are located at 10 Paisley Street, Guelph, ON N1H 2N4, with free on-site parking.

Once you have provincial health insurance and are no longer on IFHP, you may be eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) — a federal dental program for Canadians with household income under $90,000. We are a registered CDCP provider as well. Learn more about CDCP coverage →
